Principals

Patrick Cahill
Patrick Cahill began his career at the Investment Banking firm of Kidder, Peabody Inc. where he worked in the Brokerage division and in the Corporate Finance Department where he helped companies seek capital through equity financing. Mr. Cahill was quickly promoted to Vice President after two years and worked with a team for the next four years on some of the most creative and profitable business at the firm. After finding and developing more than 200 deals and generating millions of capital investments, Mr. Cahill was asked to help others inside the company become familiar with the various functions of the Investment Banking world.

When General Electric purchased Kidder, Peabody, Mr. Cahill moved on to Price, Waterhouse Coopers where he worked in their Middle Market Group. After realizing that the smaller and more underdeveloped organizations really needed to establish more sophisticated and professionally designed processes, Mr. Cahill shifted full time into the Sales and Marketing area. It was here that Mr. Cahill was able to demonstrate his skills as one of the top performers in all of PWC.

After leaving PWC, Mr. Cahill worked for Don Aux Associates, a leading middle market consulting firm.  He led the organization in Sales and New Business Development for seven years.  Mr. Cahill left Don Aux Associates to pursue a position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at IntelliSpace which is an Internet Service Provider. He took that company from start up phase all the way through to $66,000,000 in revenue where upon Mr. Cahill sold his stake in the company to outside investors. Mr. Cahill had various other consulting projects after that before joining the MAC Venture Group, Inc.

Patrick Cahill was educated at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA, Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and received his MBA from the London School of Economics with a minor in Econometric Modeling.

Bruce Chesebrough
As both an operator and consultant, Mr. Chesebrough has been improving the performance of small and middle-market companies for over 15 years. As Managing Director, Mr. Chesebrough is responsible for directing all client consulting engagements as well as the overall operations of MAC Venture. Mr. Chesebrough's unique background and experience enables him to advise clients on a broad range of business disciplines including: sales, marketing, strategic planning, organizational development, operations, finance, and change management. He is an active member of The Turnaround Management Association and The Association For Corporate Growth.

Prior to joining MAC Venture, Mr. Chesebrough was Managing Director for Corbis Corporation - a leading provider of digital image solutions owned by Bill Gates. At Corbis, Mr. Chesebrough was responsible for a worldwide organization of over 300. During his 5-year tenure at Corbis, Mr. Chesebrough drove revenues from $11M to $140M worldwide by increasing Corbis' direct sales presence from 2 US offices to 12 throughout Europe and Asia. Additionally, Mr. Chesebrough built a dealer representative channel in 35 countries in which it did not sell direct. He has personally conducted business in over 20 countries. Prior to Corbis, Mr. Chesebrough spent 10 years as a management consultant - assisting entrepreneurial companies improve their sales, profits, and ease of operation. Mr. Chesebrough started his career at Young & Rubicam NY - one of the world's largest ad agencies.

Mr. Chesebrough holds a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College.

David Upton
Mr. Upton leads MAC Venture Group’s business analysis practice and oversees specific implementation programs to significantly improve performance of client companies.

Prior to his current work analyzing and improving client businesses, Mr. Upton spent over ten years developing and growing small companies through development and growth stages. Mr. Upton started and developed a security systems business delivering biometric technology and perimeter security equipment to markets worldwide. This business was later sold to Curtis-Wright Corporation in a transaction valued at over $40 million. Mr. Upton was an executive team member in the start-up and development of Viisage Technology, a worldwide provider of identifications systems. He played a leading role in both sales and implementation from the company’s first contract through $25 million in annual sales volume. Viisage was the fastest growing personal identification in the world at the time of its initial public offering in November 1996.

Mr. Upton spent ten years at Digital Equipment Corporation where he held a number of positions, later relating primarily to the turnaround efforts of underperforming business units. In his role of business unit manager, Mr. Upton led a worldwide development organization through the successful development and introduction of 21 new products in 14 months. This successful effort boosted sales revenues by 25% to over $500 million annually. Prior, Mr. Upton led the turnaround of a business unit selling high end printing solutions to F100 companies. His successful efforts to correct third-party product quality issues and reposition the product line were credited with reversing the business performance of the PrintServer family of products.

Mr. Upton holds a Masters of Business Administration from Babson College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
